The 2018 Subaru Impreza Earns a 2018 IIHS TOP SAFETY PICK+ Rating

In our last blog post, we highlighted the 2018 Subaru Crosstrek and its 2018 IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety) TOP SAFETY PICK win, but it's not the only member of the Subaru family to receive such a high honor. In fact, the 2018 Subaru Impreza earned an IIHS TOP SAFETY PICK+ rating, the highest available from the IIHS. Not to toot our own horn, but toot, toot.

What Makes the 2018 Subaru Impreza Such a Safe Bet?

When equipped with the highly acclaimed available Subaru EyeSight® Driver Assist Technology and available LED Steering Responsive Headlights, the 2018 Subaru Impreza earns the highest-available IIHS rating, the TOP SAFETY PICK+ designation. One of the tests the IIHS used this year was new, the 'passenger side small overlap crash' category. A 40 mph crash into a barrier simulates a passenger-side crash, and the 2018 Subaru Impreza earned the highest rating available, the "Good" rating.

"Drivers expect that their passengers, who are often family, will be protected just as well as they are," says IIHS President Adrian Lund. "Manufacturers have been taking this issue seriously since we first shed light on it, and we're confident that good small overlap protection will become the norm on the passenger side, just as it has on the driver side." —from a December 7 2017 Subaru of America Press Release

The Steering Responsive Headlights use steering-wheel input to turn slightly as you move around a bend, projecting your intended path, rather than simply following along. Want to try out this awesome feature? Come see us at Umansky Subaru of Charlottesville for a test drive you won't soon forget!
