For consumers who are considering the Crosstrek, there are some notable changes in store for the 2020 model year. The 2020 Crosstrek has more standard features and a slight design refresh in 2020. This year it adds new, more prominent LED lights in the front. Convenience is a primary consideration for the 2020 model year Crosstrek, which gets start-stop technology for its engine and more standard safety features, including a rear-seat reminder. The Crosstrek in 2019 added some additional features to its ever-popular and intuitive Starlink telematics system. More features are available on the 2019 Crosstrek compared to the 2018 model, including adaptive headlights and more safety.


The performance features are the same for the Crosstrek in 2020 and 2019. The same engine powers all trims in both model years. A 2.0L engine with four cylinders drives the Crosstrek. At its peak, this engine delivers a maximum of 152 HP. It also reaches up to 180 LB-FT in torque. The standard drivetrain is an all-wheel drive on all trims. A six-speed manual is standard on the first two trims, but you can change to a continuously variable automatic transmission for those trims. The automatic transmission is standard on the top trims.


The Subaru Crosstrek has a sporty and rugged appearance. The Crosstrek is made for adventure and looks the part with its standard roof rails, 17-inch wheels, and class-leading ground clearance. The Crosstrek's exterior features also vary slightly by trim, with fog lights added to the second trim level. A sunroof is available for the top trim, which is the Limited. The 2019 Crosstrek also comes with 8.7 inches of ground clearance. However, LED lights are not included until the second trim, while they come standard on the 2020 model year.


A wealth of amenities makes for an enjoyable ride in both the 2020 and 2019 editions of the Subaru Crosstrek. The base model in 2019 includes a 6.5-inch display screen with phone integration, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay. The base trim gets a four-speaker sound system. Subaru's EyeSight suite of safety features can be added on. A leather steering wheel and contrast interior stitching are standard in the second trim, while the Limited gets an eight-inch display screen. The 2020 Subaru adds heated front seats to the second trim and navigation and more standard safety features to the Limited.
