Now that your search for a sports coupe has taken you to the Subaru BRZ, your next step is to get familiar with the differences between the latest model years available. The 2020 Subaru BRZ was the outgoing version of the model’s first generation. With no 2021 BRZ produced, the 2022 Subaru BRZ kicks off the model’s second generation. Before you finalize your purchase plans, what should you know about the 2020 BRZ and the 2022 BRZ?

Under the 2020 BRZ’s hood, you will find a 2.0-liter, flat-four gas engine. It is mated to a six-speed manual transmission to produce 205 horsepower. The coupe has rear-wheel drive. For 2022, the BRZ has been updated under the hood. The 2.0-liter engine is no longer available. The car’s 2.4-liter, flat-four gas engine boasts 228 horsepower and more torque than its predecessor. It continues to have rear-wheel drive and a manual transmission.

The 2020 BRZ is athletically styled from end to end. It boasts a tapered nose with a well-defined hood and a powerful fascia. The headlights have a wraparound light bar and a premium row of bulbs. The sides are muscularly accented, and the rear shows off a spoiler, aggressive taillights and dual exhaust finishers mounted in a beefy bumper.

The 2022 BRZ has a similarly sleek design, but it has been retouched from end to end. Its headlights have been outlined with an LED ribbon, and they have a triangular quality—the front fascia curves into powerful air vents. The hood is prominently defined on the sides to highlight the strength of the front haunches. You will find a large air intake vent with lower-body definition and premium rear haunches on the sides. Likewise, the rear has been restyled with new taillights and a reshaped lower fascia.

When you compare the features in the 2020 BRZ to the 2022 BRZ, you will notice the interior materials in the latest version have been revamped. In addition, there are several new driver’s assistive aids in the 2022 version. However, both BRZ versions have an infotainment system with smart device connectivity, USB charging ports, an impressive sound system, an auto climate control system, and other equipment.

The 2020 BRZ is an impressive sports coupe, and it will grow even more exciting in 2022 with the debut of its next generation. Our Umansky Subaru team is standing by to tell you more about the BRZ’s abilities and features. Contact us today to learn more and to make test drive plans.
