The Forester is Subaru’s functional SUV that is up for any challenge you have in store for it. In 2019, the Forester’s fifth-generation debuted, and Subaru has continued to elevate the Forester’s bold capabilities and style since that time. In fact, between the 2021 and 2022 model years, Subaru made several exciting updates to the Forester that you will undoubtedly love. What can you expect from the latest version of the Forester?

Performance

The Subaru Forester’s powertrain did not change for 2022, but its towing power has been increased to 3,000 pounds. The only engine offered for the 2021 and 2022 Forester is a 2.5-liter, four-cylinder gas powertrain that generates 182 horsepower. It is paired with a continuously variable auto transmission and all-wheel drive. The Wilderness trim level is new for 2022. It adds equipment like a front skid plate, higher ground clearance, and all-terrain tires to easily navigate more rugged driving conditions.

Appearance

Across the Forester’s full trim lineup, the SUV benefits from a reshaped grille. This modernizes the SUV’s appearance from the front end. The roof rails that are available on select trim levels have been reinforced to hold more weight. If you opt for the all-new Wilderness trim level, your Forester will have an anti-glare hood with a matte finish, 17-inch wheels, and LED fog lights on the exterior. Features found in some or all of the other trim levels for both model years are LED headlights, tinted rear windows, an all-weather package, and a panoramic sunroof.

Features

The interior features in the all-new Wilderness trim level include water-resistant materials, an integrated navigation system, an 8-inch touch display screen, a premium sound system, and a power liftgate. Other equipment across the Forester’s trim lineup holds steady. Select or all 2022 Forester trims have heated front and rear seats, a heated steering wheel, a driver attention sensor, driver’s memory settings, a Harman Kardon sound system, a dual-zone auto climate control system, leather upholstery, and more.
